Big Rich Texas

Bon and Whit were on Big Rich Texas for four seasons because the producers knew reality TV needed a little ✨ unhinged ✨ energy, and nobody serves drama with a side of champagne and chaos like them. Basically, they were the blueprint for 'main character energy' before TikTok even had a term for it.

The first three seasons has most the same cast - some come and go - but the fourth season was Dr. Bon's family's spin off - Whitney's Having a Baby.

Season One Memories (2011)

Bon and Whit were the OGs of Big Rich Texas—first cast, first chaos. 👑✨ Here’s the casting call vid that locked us in. Yeah… we goofy like that. 😆🎥

Season 1 of Big Rich Texas was a masterclass in reality TV fakery, and I was living for the chaos. From filming at a country club in the worst part of town (where I almost witnessed a shootout at a convenience store) to nearly throwing hands with pool squatters who thought they were better than us (newsflash: they weren’t), it was chef’s kiss drama. We had fake beauty pageants that bored even the contestants, soft-scripted brawls with California imports pretending to be Texans, and a murder mystery party that almost turned into a blackout party thanks to Whit and my bestie. The producers spun wild tales—like a cast member "dating" a golf instructor she had literally just met—and stole my gun storyline, forcing me to play the anti-gun mom while my gun safe sat at home like, “Really?” 🙄 They also manufactured a “Whitney is unhinged” arc, because why not? And let’s not forget the grand finale: a cast member’s brand-new “home” that—surprise!—wasn’t even hers. Reality TV, folks. What a ride. 😂

Season 2 was staged AF, and I soft-quit at least five or six times before officially peacing out. ✌️ Jason and I had a gothic vow renewal (which was cool), but of course, they had to sprinkle in forced drama. The producers kept trying to pit Whit and me against each other, which—LOL—literally never happens.  Why not show what really happens - we're way more like sisters who like to cause 'funny' trouble and chaos. I digress. The whole season was drowning in fake cheer drama, pageants, and storylines so cringe they made my soul itch. 😬

Then, in peak reality TV villainy, a cast member pitched a fake STD rumor about Whit to producers to sabotage us. They took the bait and before we knew it  - we were knee-deep in filming this crap. Not only was this absurd, but they planned to drag it out for multiple episodes. Uh, yeah—NO. We quit. Not about to stay under contract pretending this nonsense was real to the public. 💅 So we got flown out to meet with the network president, negotiated that the fake STD story had to be killed in the same episode it started, and in exchange, I got to promote my books (barely) and get a nose job on the show so I could skip out on any more fake conflict drama with castmates. Did they actually highlight my books? No. Did I still win? Kinda. At least I got a new nose and an exit from the mess. 🏆😂

Season Three Memories (2012)

Producers always had a say in how we looked on camera :)

This was the first fun season to film.  The cast had become family (well, most - we lost some and others weren't good matches), and we got amazing additions.

The moms got to go to New Orleans and this is where the cast went rogue and largely ignored the soft script. This is the most 'real' the episodes ever got, and life had become so dramatic and /or funny and /or ridiculous - they just filmed it.  Whit got engaged to Brandon (aka: Booger) and we filmed our first reunion show with Vivica Fox as the host.

Brandon proposed this season, so this was their engagement announcement. Needless to say, many people shared it - including Style and other media.

Season Four Memories (2013)
This was our family's spin off.

I officially retired from fake, dramatic reality TV, but I’d totally do a wholesome fam show again. ✌️ Season 4 was a blast—basically Whitney’s Having a Baby—and we were this close to signing Whitney’s Getting Married when NBC decided to yeet Style Network into oblivion and turn it into Esquire, a men’s network. So, no, we weren’t canceled—the entire network was. 😂

That said, a lot of this season was actually real, with just a little TV magic sprinkled in. Whitney and I legit found out she was having a girl on camera, and she later attempted (and failed) a gender reveal for Brandon—both very real moments. We threw a gender reveal party (also real), and there was a solid attempt to merge our two families, which, let’s just say… we are very different. 😂 Some of the drama with Bo and Jan? Definitely exaggerated, but it had a foundation in reality.

One of my favorite parts—Whit really bought her wedding dress that day (yes, there’s video). And DrunkLora? 100% a real band, which Jason and I originally started, and it’s getting resurrected again. Our performance on the show? Totally legit—our song, our lyrics, no TV fakery there. 🎸🔥

Zombie Mommy

And, of course, Baby Mayhem was really born on television. Seriously. Cameras pointed right there. My reaction was real- I tried to run from them because I'm not an emotional person and didn't want 'real' tears on film (innate reaction) - but they are faster runners than I am and I couldn't go far because Rhythm was about to be born. All in all, a great show - great memories.  Not many people can say they were born on TV!

And that is a video of Zakk, who was 17 at the time, sleeping on the hospital bed during the birth. He was originally supposed to leave but we let him sleep.
